Advocating responsible & respectful wildlife watching for meaningful marine encounters
The Yorkshire Seal Group is a team of passionate volunteers who are committed to helping protect and preserve our native and iconic Grey and Common Seal populations. We take our convictions and turn them into action through research and community engagement. We are an evidence based, grassroots team using citizen science protocols to collect data on coastal visitor demographics, seal populations, movements, breeding success and mitigating both existing and emerging threats.
We work with a variety of stakeholders and marine user groups to advocate responsible seal watching and best practice, promoting wider environmental stewardship through our positive public engagement, schools education workshops and beach cleaning activities.
